How to Unlock Dust Devil
The Sweep The Moon dust devil badge unlocks when you sweep 1,000 kg of moon dust across all moons combined. You do not need to collect the entire amount on one moon, which makes this a useful milestone to pursue during regular cleanup. Start collecting, turn your dust into cash, and put that money toward upgrades.
The target measures dust swept, so keep your attention on kilograms rather than your cash balance or the percentage of a moon you have cleaned.
- Dust requirement: 1,000 kg.
- Progress scope: All moons combined.
- Badge awards: 174,314.
Dust Devil and Clean Sweep have different objectives. Dust Devil tracks your cumulative dust collection; Clean Sweep requires cleaning a moon to 100%. You can work toward both during the same cleanup without treating them as the same goal.

Make the 1,000 kg Grind More Efficient
Your starting toothbrush gets the process moving, but the upgrade loop gives you more ways to tackle the dust.

Build a steady collection loop
- Hold your sweeping tool over dusty ground. Work in straight lines to cover a tile methodically.
- Empty your canister at the base intake. Selling collected dust supplies cash for equipment and upgrades.
- Increase canister capacity. Carry more dust between deposit trips.
- Invest in payout upgrades early. Increase the money you earn to help fund further purchases.
- Move into stronger cleaning equipment. Tools such as the scrubber and large brush expand your options beyond the toothbrush.
Finish tiles as you go instead of constantly moving to untouched patches. Completed tiles provide bonuses, and your first finished tile also earns Spotless.
Spend on collection before complicated logistics
Save toward a sweeper at the vehicle bay to expand your cleanup options. Sweepers and giant rovers are part of the game's progression beyond hand tools.
Leave conveyor belts for later if walking to the intake is still easy. Belts transport dust containers, so prioritize that infrastructure when transporting dust becomes a larger part of your routine. Keep early spending focused on your tool, capacity, and earnings.
Robots provide another way to clean alongside your own sweeping. The +1 Robot Dock pass costs 149 Robux and lets you place one small robot dock for free in every moon. Its robots clean for the whole crew. Picking up that dock makes it free to place again.
Understand the optional canister passes
If you choose to buy a convenience pass, distinguish these two before spending Robux:
- Infinite Canister — 99 Robux: Removes your backpack's capacity limit, but you still need to empty it at the intake to get paid.
- Sell As You Sweep — 249 Robux: Pays for dust as you collect it, also applies while driving a sweeping vehicle, and includes Infinite Canister.
Both passes are permanent purchases that work in every moon you play, including a friend's moon. With Sell As You Sweep, you still walk into the base to shop.
Neither changes Dust Devil's stated requirement: sweep 1,000 kg.
Badge Completion Order
Follow this suggested order to connect the dust grind with the other badge objectives. It is a planning route, rather than an unlock prerequisite chain.
| Achievement | How to unlock |
|---|---|
| Payday | Sell moon dust to earn your first money. |
| Spotless | Finish cleaning your first moon tile. |
| Dust Devil | Sweep 1,000 kg of moon dust across all moons combined. |
| Factory Floor | Build a Crusher or a Block Press. |
| Clean Sweep | Clean a moon to 100%. |
Collect Payday and Spotless while establishing your collection loop, then pursue the cumulative dust target. Build a Crusher or Block Press as you develop your machinery, and leave the full-moon cleanup as the final objective. Clean Sweep has been awarded 5,793 times, compared with Dust Devil's 174,314.
